There will be something a little different at the Agricultural Science Fair this year – a real estate auction on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 12:30 pm by Equipment Connection operated by Upper Sandusky-based Walton Realty and Auction Co.

“We are very excited to announce the first real estate auction to be held at Farm Science Review this year in 2024,” said Darby Walton, equipment connection broker and Walton Realty and Auction Co. “We really are. I’m excited about how the sale will turn out. This is an auction of goods with individual and online bidding, but no equipment at the auction site. Something else and another will be sold on big screens. The live crowd will be in the College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences’ main tent at the west end of the Agricultural Science Auditorium.”

The auction will be the next installment in a series of Property Connections auctions since early last year.

“These sales really started for us back in March 2023 when we took the lead on two nice, modern John Deere tractors. Dealers really didn’t have a good way of marketing the machines. of them and we threw our first equipment sale together in a few weeks. We ended up having really good results and launched this type of auction that we now call Equipment. Connection,” Walton said. “We’ve now done five auctions of this real estate since then – four regular auctions and a dealer sale this year. It brought a new marketing experience where you don’t have to move your equipment and we can still market to audiences across the United States, and around the world. The shopping experience is also a little different, we don’t have anything there, we’re still giving customers the opportunity to check out these devices before the sale, and, of course, they’re still using the concept of an online auction on these available. sale of goods. They are doing well for us and we are very excited to bring this to the Agricultural Science Review. ”

The first Ohio farm show seemed like a good fit.

“Actually, it was a no-brainer for us. We wanted a place to do this, not just an auction, but an event. Last year alone they hosted more than 100,000 visitors. It’s a way What better way to showcase the agriculture industry than to host it at one of the largest farm shows in the United States? We know there will be buyers there from the ag community and those who don’t great auction of life,” Walton said.

After a long run of used farm equipment prices in recent years, a softening market could set the stage for some good deals, said Equipment Connection salesman Sam Baer.

“With commodity prices looking low, they have had a negative impact on the equipment market. The markets have changed a bit and you will see those values come down from last year’s prices. This year was a list the highest of farmers on the market since 2006 and with some recent models, we have seen a drop in price. Of course, if you want to upgrade another machine, there are places in the market that you’re getting at a higher value now,” Baer said. “However, having said that, low hours, pre-DEF tractors, pre-DEF horsepower – that’s we are very helpful. That is still in high demand. Every time you get into the latest gear, the price has come down, but if it’s high-quality gear and disposable pieces that people need year after year, there’s still good demand for them. “

Equipment Connection still has inventory open for this one-of-a-kind sale on September 18th.

“Live sales are a meeting place in the agricultural industry. A live auction is one of the most popular aspects of the community, whether it is agricultural property, farmland or even the livestock industry. When you combine that with an online offer, you’re not only getting people looking for deals from Ohio or Indiana, but the entire United States. So, what better way to market your property than to have an online auction and bid? You get the best of both worlds, especially at the Agricultural Science Review,” Walton said. “Those who are interested in donating or if you want to see this year’s auction of available goods 2024 in Farm Science Assessment, be sure to check out our website at waltonauctionco.com or if you have any other questions. feel free to call our office number at 419-294-0007.
