Zebrowski said his work with the RBA comes “along with my new role as a senior advisor to Brown and Weinraub.”
“Both parts should work together perfectly,” he said on Thursday. “My position at Brown and Weinraub will open RBA to the staff and services of a leading government and public affairs firm.”
The longtime trade association announced that Zebrowski will work with longtime CEO Al Samuels and the Board of Directors “in a restructuring effort to better serve its members and sharpen its economic advocacy for the future.” ”
Samuels, Zebrowski, and staff will work with the board, several strategic committees, and additional partners to chart a new direction for the organization, the RBA release said.
RBA plans to introduce many new events, cooperation and growth opportunities, important news, and other developments affecting economic activities and various business services.
“Ken’s involvement with the RBA will give me more time to devote to key areas of particular concern: advocacy, public policy, and economic development,” said Samuels.
Zebrowski said they are looking at “a top-to-bottom review of the organization with an eye toward increasing advocacy and strategic communications that are important to our members.”
He said the RBA will benefit from its relationships with business associations across the country and they have already begun reviewing the programs. He said RBA members will be evaluated for ideas and suggestions to allow the organization to provide more effective services for their business purposes.
Zebrowski said the aim is for the RBA to take an important leadership role in our local and regional economy,
“Business and economic conditions are changing at lightning speed and the RBA will provide updated ideas to advance the business interests of our members and strengthen the economic climate for Rockland County and the Hudson Valley,” Zebrowski said. he said.
Zebrowski completes his work in the Assembly
Zebrowski, a Democrat, has served in the Rockland Assembly for 18 years, and announced in January that he would not seek a 10th, two-year term in November. His 96th district — once the 94th — includes Clarkstown and Haverstraw, and Nyack and Nyack South of Orangetown.
Zebrowski, who was first elected at age 26, is the son of former Rockland Legislator Kenneth Zebrowski, who was chairman of the district’s governing body. He ran in the Democratic primary for Rockland district attorney in 2019. His sister, Kristen Zebrowski Stavisky, served as the Rockland Democrat’s election commissioner and party chair. He is now co-chairman of the New York State Board of Elections.
During his tenure in the Assembly, Zebrowski pushed for legislation to strengthen enforcement of building codes and tougher penalties for illegal housing and violations of state fire and safety laws. He advocated for the state to step down from the county government to replace the Spring Valley Building. He also advocated for monitors to oversee the East Ramapo School District. His advocacy for law enforcement and school trustees won him Ramapo Orthodox Jewish voters when he ran for district attorney.
Zebrowski fought for more benefits for volunteer firefighters, among other first responders, and environmental protections.
Zebrowski told the Journal News/lohud in January when he announced he would not seek re-election that the decision was difficult. He is married with young children and had to go to Albany.
“I was very fortunate to represent the community where I grew up and where I live now,” he said. “I think it’s the right decision, but I personally will be sad when I leave the rooms for the last time.”
